The North American Sand Soccer Championships have announced the opening of applications for their annual soccer scholarship, available to qualifying area High School seniors.

To honor the legacy of Dick Whalen, founder of the North American Sand Soccer Championships, the Dick Whalen Soccer Scholarship was estabilshed in 2020.

Purpose of Scholarship: To continue the legacy and passion for excellence of Dick Whalen, one of the founders of the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex, by supporting the high school senior class of the local soccer community.

Scholarship amount: $10,000 (divided between 1-5 recipients)

Eligibility: Among other things, the student must be a current member of or a child of a current Hampton Roads Soccer Council affiliate soccer club such as OTSL.

OTSL parents of qualifiying High School seniors are therefore encouraged to apply.
